
Meeting of the EMA on training personnel for the nuclear industry
On January 24, 2025, a meeting of the educational and methodological association for training personnel in the field of "Physical and Chemical Sciences" was held at Al-Farabi KazNU on the topic "Formation of human resources for the nuclear industry: modern challenges and innovative approaches to training specialists." The event was attended by the Committee for Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Atomic Company Kazatomprom, the Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kazakhstan Nuclear Power Plants LLP, the Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear Technology Safety, the Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan, Al-Farabi KazNU, Shakarim University, KazNITU named after K. Satpayev, Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications, S. Amanzholov University, VKTU named after D. Serikbayev, Astana IT University, Almaty branch of the MEPhI Nuclear Research University, and others. Shakarim University was represented by the Dean of the Research School of Physical and Chemical Sciences Gaukhar Danilovna Kabdrakhimova and the Head of the Department of Technical Physics and Thermal Power Engineering Olga Aleksandrovna Stepanova. In the report of O.A. Stepanova It was noted that Shakarim University has experience in training personnel for the nuclear industry since 1996 and has been successfully cooperating with the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan for all these years.
During the meeting, it was said that training personnel for NPPs is needed today, that universities in Kazakhstan should focus their educational programs on current areas of the industry. Speaking with a report from Shakarim University, she presented the experience of working with the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, showed the organization of the educational process with the direct participation of leading scientists and specialists of the NNC RK, as well as the willingness to improve educational programs taking into account new requirements and work experience. In the report, she emphasized that since 1996, Shakarim University has been training personnel for the nuclear energy industry, and many graduates occupy key positions at industry enterprises.
As a result of the meeting, a resolution was adopted on the areas of development of personnel in the nuclear industry.
